My grandfather on my father's side was a fur trader in Tientsin, China in the 30s, part of a Russian Jewish community living in China around the turn of the century. He was a fur trader and importer-exporter. When Mao took over in '54, they kicked out all the foreigners and my father's family moved to Israel. He was 10 at the time.
